It’s kind of rough being mormon when a member of the church decides that he wants to run for president. I have track-tagged “mormon” and “lds” on my dashboard, and I really get to see a lot of interesting posts regarding the church and politics … Some of them are just so pathetic it’s hilarious, and some I am afraid to even look at, because I know I’d end up in a coffin after facepalming myself too hard
Ok … where do I even start …
1) Some of you have to learn about this thing called “separation between state and religion” Now - I’m not american, nor have I ever lived in the US, but as a fellow sane human being I can say that I honestly doubt that he will force you all to get baptized or preach you to sleep
2) It doesn’t matter that he served a mission in his younger days. He dedicated two years of his life to make a difference in someone else’s, and even though he got a hundred doors slammed in his face, his message meant a lot to those he managed to reach. Besides, he’s not wearing that name tag anymore, so he’s not trying to convert you. I don’t know anything about his political views, but I do know that he probably ran for president because he wanted to make an effort in the society and be a good representant for your voices. At least that’s his intention.
3) If you start to focus on the way we worship, our gospel and the fact that we have temples, it’s a sign that you’re running out of arguments, because in this case it’s not relevant at all.
4) No, we do not practice polygamy, so if “Obama doesn’t have three wives” you’re just pointing out that he has something in common with Romney, because - believe it or not - neither does he, or any of the members in the church. (Besides, that’s also a lousy argument lol, meaning you FAIL at life, little friend)
MY POINT IS; please leave the church out of the election, because you’re just giving irrelevancy a new and stronger definition.
